Most times, displayed travels can look a bit tacky. No judgement – I too have had some items equivalent to a “key west blanket”. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel people. AKA there are tons of fun ways to display your travels without it looking cheesy. All my best tips below!

Displayed Travels In Your Home:
1. Frame Postcards
This is my all-time favorite hack for displaying your travels. Most places sell gorgeous postcards for stupid cheap. I usually lean towards black and white ones that look more hand drawn or ones that look like paintings. You can go for any post cards, but the two I just mentioned will look more elevated than a picture postcard.
For one of our favorite trips to Seattle, I chose a print of a boat. It fits into our vintage inspired gallery wall with ease, but tells a special story to us and anyone who asks about it. Plus is was only $2 – you can’t beat that. The key is picking a great frame & spot to display it.
2. Check If They Sell Prints
I usually walk into gift shops with my guard up, but sometimes it’s worth checking what they have. I oftentimes am not a fan, but in some cases you get lucky. On our honeymoon we found one of our favorite prints to date (plus it came in a gorgeous frame already!). If they don’t have it displayed it’s worth checking with the front desk at hotels, galleries, and more.
3. Display State Flowers
If you’re looking for a way to honor a special place to you, but you didn’t bring anything back from the trip – this is for you. Look up the state flower & search on Etsy for “print/painting + state flower”. There are tons of beautiful options, and because it’s so subtle it never looks tacky.
You could also expand this into other countries that are special or even skip the flowers & do state birds, etc.
4. Source Vintage Art Of Special Places
Again, this one is a great way to represent someplace that is special to you without it being super literal. You could search up certain cities or states on the public domain and display some beautiful landscape photos of those places. You could also niche down a little. For instance, if you have fond memories of a cabin in the mountains maybe you don’t frame an exact photo of that cabin, but instead search for a painting that has a similar feeling & reminds you of the place.
Ultimately, there are no rules. Get creative and create something that’s special to you! We displayed all of our travel art on our vintage inspired gallery wall. The tutorial for how we did that is here!
