We all know the struggle of curling corners & sliding rugs TOO well – this rug hack has become the biggest staple in our house lately.

Is there anything worse than purchasing a new rug, and stubbing your toe on the the corners while they’re still settling. I feel like whenever this happens it just trains the corners to stay up & never fully settle. Then the edges of the corner fray & your brand new rug feels more “used” than “new”. I tried this rug hack on our new rug, and it has changed the game for all the rugs in our house. I will quite literally buy them forever now – not kidding.
I’ve tried a majority of the rug hacks: the ice hack, the heavy book hack, etc. Honestly, most were fine for a while, but none worked long term. I found these cheap rug grippers on Amazon & they’re AMAZING. Like I said, I’ll never go without them again. They’re relatively self-explanatory, but I have a few tips for best results below.
P.S. these are just for hardwood/vinyl floors, not carpet.
- Don’t skip on corners – every corner of the rug needs one “gripper”. If you have an oval or circle rug, use 4-6.
- Sticky side attaches to the rug, and the rubber side goes on the ground. This prevents adhesive residue from getting on your floors, but ensures they don’t move.
- Put the rug grippers as close to the corner of the rug as possible. Make sure you keep the gripper on a flat surface. (Don’t put part of it on the seam of the rug – just the flat part as close to the seam as possible.)
- Make sure your rug is where you want it before placing the grippers on it. You can move the rug, but each time it’s moved the grippers become slightly less functional.
- After applying the grippers, leave a heavy book or item on top of the corner for the day. It helps them really suction to the ground for a good long term grip.
