This post is about small laundry room ideas.
Small Laundry Room Ideas With: Top Loading Washer
Top loaders often limit you from placing counters or shelves above, so layout planning and vertical storage is the key here. There are plenty of solutions to maximize your space. With the right layout and tools, you can design a functional and stylish small laundry area.
Narrow Rolling Cart
Typically when you have a top loader wash machine, you don't have enough storage. A great solution for this is investing in a narrow cart to store detergent, bleach, dryer sheets, and all of your other laundry supplies. A cart is convenient for you to move when you need to use it. Most of them can even fit right next to your washer and dryer!
Wall Mounted Folding Table
Folding laundry is much more convenient if it can be done in your laundry room. I love the idea of doing a wall mounted folding table next to your washer or dryer. This idea is perfect for top loading washers, so it doesn't block you from opening it. A wall mounted folding table is super convenient because you can fold it against the wall when not using it.
Hanging Hooks on a Side Wall

You could use adhesive or screw-in bolts to the nearest side wall. This solution will allow you to hang up some clothes while folding laundry. Since this will be in the middle of the wall, it frees up space towards the ground. You can add some wire baskets or any baskets you prefer for extra storage or dirty clothes.
Freestanding Laundry Cabinet or Utility Shelf
If you can't mount anything above the washer, place a slim utility shelf next to the machines instead. You can even label bins and baskets to keep everything organized and at arm's reach.
Small Laundry Room Ideas: DIY
DIY solutions allow you to personalize your space and stretch your budget! Whether you rent or own, small upgrades can make your laundry space more stylish and user-friendly.
DIY Butcher Block Countertop Over Machines
If you have a front-loading machines, place a butcher block or plywood panel over them to create a countertop. This adds a clean folding surface and hides appliance tops. You can finish the wood yourself to match your decor, and this will warm up the space so much! There are also tons of options to buy that are already made!
Paint or Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper

Painting your walls or adding wallpaper can make a small space feel so much bigger. Use peel-and-stick if you rent or want a less permanent solution! This is such a fun way to add depth and personality to your room.
Hidden Laundry Closet with Curtain or Sliding Door
If you laundry area is in a hallway or shared space, install a sliding door to tuck it away. A curtain is a great option to save some more money, but a sliding door is more impactful.

Clear Glass Jars for Laundry Supplies
We have all seen the aesthetic laundry rooms! One of the best ways to achieve this look is by organizing your laundry supplies. Clear storage containers give you a clean look while also making it easy to grab the right supplies.
Small Laundry Room Ideas With: Drying Rack
Many small laundry room ideas don't show what you can do for a drying space! If you have a lack of space for a traditional drying solutions, you an use clever ways to hang dry your clothes.
Retractable Clothesline or Rod
Install a retractable clothesline across a narrow wall or inside a closet. When you need to dry clothes, it pulls out like a tape measure and retracts when done. It's a great option for small spaces when a permanent rod won't fit.
Hang Rod Under Cabinet or Shelf

If you have overhead cabinets, this is the solution for you! Mount a tension rod or hanging bar underneath the cabinets. You can hang clothes right out of the dryer or let clothes air-dry overnight. Just make sure your cabinet height allows enough drop length space. If you don't need to hang pants, this wouldn't be a problem at all!
Fold-Down Wall-Mounted Drying Rack
This is similar to the wall mounted folding table, but it offers a drying rack instead of just a folding station. This space-saving solution folds out when you need it and tucks flat against the wall when you don't need it! Mount it above or beside the washer/dryer for easy and quick access.
IKEA-Style Wall Bars with Hooks & Hangers
This is one of my favorite small laundry room ideas Ikea edition! Install towel bars or kitchen rails like IKEA's "KUNGSFORS." These systems are very affordable and module. You can install these over tile, drywall, or cabinetry to hold all your supplies and drying clothes.
Ceiling Pulley Drying Rack
This is super common in European laundry setups, and I completely understand why! This ceiling-mounted drying rack is operated by a pulley system. You can lower it to hang clothes and it raise it up to dry out of the way. This is a perfect solution when you have tall ceilings.
