Description

This Chicago-Style or “Prohibition-Style” Old Fashioned cocktail is absolutely delicious! It’s a spirit-forward Old-Fashioned that has a mild orange flavor that compliments the Whiskey. Serve it over a large ice cube for best dilution while enjoying!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 oz – Whiskey, bourbon, or brandy
  • 2-4 dashes – Bitters (Angostura is best in my opinion!)
  • 1/2 oz – Simple syrup
  • Orange
  • Ice (a handful or 2)

Instructions

1. Add ice, whiskey, bitters, and simple syrup to a mixing glass.

2. Using a bar spoon quickly stir the cocktail for 20 seconds to dilute & chill it.

3. Add a large ice cube to a rocks glass.

4. Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain the cocktail into your rocks glass.

5. Peel a thin slice of orange skin using a paring knife or peeler. Express the orange oils by gently twisting the orange peel over your cocktail. Run the peel around the rim of your glass.

6. Garnish with the orange peel & enjoy!
