Ready For A Thoughtful At Home Date Idea?
If you’re new here… weeknights used to feel the same at our house. We would make a quick dinner, tune into some TV time, & then lights out without much connecting at all. To combat this, I started planning an at home date for my husband and I each week. I felt like the expectation to "get out of the house" & go on a weekly date felt more exhausting than enjoyable for us in this busy season of life. Instead, planning an intentional at home date made us slow down and connect in the place we're most comfortable.
Sometimes the date is more elaborate and sometimes it's more simple - every week is different! The goal is to find new & unique ways to prioritize the most important person in my life, and encourage you to do the same! This week’s at home date is Harry Potter themed. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Everything I Used For This Harry Potter At Home Date:
- Floating Candles - These are so fun to keep up for the holiday season! We use them during Christmastime too.
- Harry Potter Puzzle - If you're a big HP fan, this puzzle is a really fun challenge! We love doing this during the movies since we've seen them so many times - it's a nice switch up!
- "Can" Glasses - Our favorites for serving up "butter beer"!
- Harry Potter Movies - We bought them on Amazon Prime for future watching.

Activities: What To Do During The At Home Date
- Put your phones away. We love this timed lockbox from Amazon.
- Make dinner beforehand, so you can really enjoy the movies. We made chicken pot pie!
- Prep your snack & drink tray! We made Reese's "broomsticks" with pretzels, butter beer, & gilly water.
- Start your movie marathon! We've seen the movies so many times, so we did this Harry Potter puzzle while watching.
- When you're ready for a break, head to the Harry Potter website & take the quiz to see what "house" you're in.
- Go through the "connection questions" below & enjoy the rest of your movie marathon!
Connection Questions For You & Your Partner
- What spell or magical ability would you like to have in real life? Why?
- Which house do you think I belong in? Why?
- Which Harry Potter character do you relate to most and why?
- If you could visit any place in the "wizarding world", where would it be & why?
- What's something that felt magical to you as a kid? Does it still feel that way?
Some Final Thoughts...
Making simple weeknights extraordinary doesn’t have to be complicated. I hope this date night idea serves as some encouragement for you to connect with your partner during the week. Implementing at home dates is a game-changer for any relationship & I hope you try this one out!
I’ll see you here for next week’s at home date! Happy intentional connecting, friends!
