We go over affordable kitchen upgrades that anyone can do in their home! We included some DIY projects but also some ideas are quick & don't involve any DIY skill. I personally have used several of these affordable kitchen upgrades in our home, and I loved the result.
This post is about affordable kitchen upgrades.
1. Faux Beadboard Backsplash
Backsplash is something that transforms your kitchen, but it can unfortunately be pretty expensive. We used a faux beadboard backsplash in our home, and we loved the outcome! Instead of real beadboard, it's a beadboard textured wallpaper that you can paint & wipe clean!
A backsplash may not be in your budget, but this beadboard backsplash is only $20! Here is a tutorial on how I installed our beadboard textured wallpaper.

2. Peel and Stick Backsplash
Another great alternative is using peel and stick backsplash! This is a wonderful solution for still changing your space but not breaking the bank!

3. Paint Cabinets
Cabinets are such a focal point in your kitchen, and it's easy to want to buy new cabinets. If you're upgrading a kitchen for cheap, painting your cabinets is the best alternative! You will be surprised at how much changes just from some paint.
4. Upgrade Hardware
Hardware may seem small, but your kitchen can look completely different with the right hardware! If your cabinets are white then brass, gold, and black can make them pop more. We have builder-grade white cabinets, so we were looking for something to make a statement!

5. Swap Out Light Fixtures
Your eyes are always drawn to light fixtures in the kitchen. You can find tons of great budget options (I love Wayfair for this!). One of my favorite home hacks is using a lampshade to upgrade/customize your pendant lights! It's way cheaper & super easy to swap. We get a ton of compliments on our lamp shades!
6. Swap Out Barstools
Pairing the correct barstools with your kitchen cabinets is so important! If cabinets are out of the budget, consider changing your barstools. A budget-friendly barstool is a great way to totally change the feeling of your kitchen.

7. Add Hidden Storage
Practical but also affordable kitchen updates are simply the best. Adding hidden storage throughout your kitchen offers a more functional space. One of my favorite ways to add hidden storage is with hidden spice racks or spice drawers.
8. Label Shelves
Labeling shelves sounds simple, and it is! Organizing and labeling your pantry cleans up the space, so it is easier to find what you're looking for. It also makes your space look more put together! Investing in a label maker is so worth it, and you'll always use it. Pantry organizers will make your pantry more functional, and it's very affordable.

9. Add Crown Molding To Cabinets
Builder-grade cabinets can make your space feel like it's missing something. One of my favorite ways to add character is crown molding! It transforms your kitchen and adds a personal touch. This is one of my favorite crown moldings to use that is still affordable.
10. Styling Cabinets That Don't Reach The Ceiling
It's easy to want new cabinets that reach the ceiling, but this is the best alternative. Styling above your cabinets allows for unused space to be filled with cute decor pieces. I love to add a wicker basket for texture & storage!
11. Create a Coffee Bar
Making a coffee bar can make your kitchen feel more luxurious while offering practicality. We added a coffee bar in our kitchen, and I am obsessed with the space!

12. Swap Out Your Faucet
A faucet draws more eyes in than you realize! Swapping out your sink faucet seems small, but the results change your kitchen significantly. We decided on a gold faucet for our kitchen, and it's such a statement that we love! We wanted unlacquered brass, but it wasn't in budget. This faucet from Kohler gives that authentic gold look on a budget!

13. Painting Your Kitchen
Switching out your paint color in your kitchen can change so much! If updating your cabinets isn't in the budget, consider painting your kitchen and swapping hardware that pairs better with your cabinets.
14. Fridge Improvements
Fridges can turn into a catch all space with different magnets. I recommend investing in an acrylic calendar that can be used as a schedule but doesn't cover the whole fridge! This kitchen upgrade is super simple, but the less clutter the cleaner your space feels! This is acrylic calendar from amazon is sleek and functional!
15. Rugs
Investing in a good rug with support is a great option, but runners are a great option if style is your top priority. You can't go wrong with either, and a rug cushion is always a good idea!
