If you recently moved into a new home or are looking for a house essentials list, we are in the same boat! We spent time researching all the necessities for different home products. When you move into your first home it's SUPER important to make sure you have these products. It's easy to get caught up in all the decor and furniture that you can forget some of the more important items. Double checking these items will put your mind at ease!
We covered the most important cleaning supplies, safety essentials, tools & supplies, and kitchen equipment. Let's jump in!
This post is about a house essentials list.
House Essentials List
Cleaning Supplies List:
1. Vacuum
A vacuum should always be at the top of your household essential list! I can not recommend investing in a good vacuum enough. We opted for a cheap option for many years, and I wish we switched sooner! This is the vacuum my family purchased this year, and it has saved us hours in cleaning time. People always complain about cordless vacuums running out of battery, so we stuck with this corded style & love it!
2. All Purpose Cleaner
An all purpose cleaner is arguably the most used cleaning product. A multi-surface cleaner can be used just about anywhere to clean stains, dirt, crumbs, and even grease! This is one of our all time favorites, and all the scent options smell amazing.
3. Wood Cleaner & Microfiber Towel
A wood cleaner is often forgotten when getting all your cleaning supplies! All purpose cleaner and water can cause damages to the wood areas of your home. You should always pair your wood cleaner with a microfiber towel. This is one of our favorites, and it comes with a microfiber towel too!
4. Electric & Cordless Bathroom Brush
Bathrooms can easily be one of the most difficult rooms to get clean in your home. An electric brush helps give you the extra power needed to get in all the cracks. This specific brush is also cordless which I find so helpful when cleaning the shower, bathtub, and tile! One of my favorite features is the different brush attachment sizes, so it ensures you can get into every hard to reach spot!
5. Toilet Bowl Cleaner
A bleach-based toilet bowl cleaner is a MUST for any home! Bleach is one of the most effective cleaning solutions, so we always opt in for a bleach-based cleaner when it comes to bathrooms... especially toilets.
Safety Essentials List:
6. Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Detectors
Smoke & carbon monoxide alarm detectors are one of the most important items for a new house essentials list. This alarm is a dual smoke and carbon monoxide detector which is imperative for safety in your home.
7. Alarm System
I can not stress enough how important a reliable alarm system is! This ensures you feel safe whether you are at home or not in your house. We have used the Ring alarm system for the past couple of years, and we absolutely love it! This one comes with door and window sensors too!
8. Fire Extinguisher
This is an item you should buy immediately before moving in! It's easy to want to buy more exciting things first, but a fire extinguisher is a necessity. It's one of those things that you hope to never use, but DEFINITELY want to have on hand in case of an emergency.
9. Waterproof & Fireproof Safe
A place to keep all of your documents and valuables locked up is essential! This specific safe is also waterproof and fireproof which allows for that extra safety net for any disasters that could happen!
10. Smart Doorbell
A smart doorbell is one of my favorite safety features! Whether you are at home or out of town, it is always great to check in when someone is at your door. This is one of my top items on my household essentials list!
11. Fire Escape Ladder
This is another item that is often forgot when looking at house essentials lists! An escape ladder is required to ensure all family members can safely exit the home during a fire.
12. Security Spotlight
We absolutely love our security spotlights! This is a great product to keep an eye on the outside of your home while there is any motion. The Ring Spotlight is what our family purchased, and we are impressed by the accuracy of movement and how bright the lights are.

Tools & Supplies List:
13. Drill
A good quality drill is one of the most important items on a household essentials list. It saves so much time on hanging things & furniture assembly. If you're looking for an affordable option, this one has good reviews on Amazon!
14. Super Hooks
Whether you need to hang artwork or a picture frame, these super hooks do it all! They are extremely sturdy and can hang through drywall. I can not recommend this product enough! They work by simply putting a small hole in your wall to prevent having to use a damaging drywall anchor.
15. Level
A level is a must before you start hanging anything in your home! Make sure if you are putting ANY holes in your wall, you are using a level!
16. Stud Finder
You absolutely can not skip out on a stud finder! To ensure everything you are hanging will stay (and not rip out the drywall), make sure you add a stud finder to your list of new house essentials.
17. Screwdriver Set
A screwdriver set is one of the most used items on the household essentials list. I don't believe you need to get the best or most expensive brand to get the job done!
Kitchen Equipment List:
18. Silverware Set
Invest in a good set of silverware before getting into your new home! This set comes with 45 utensils, and you can never have enough!
19. Pot & Pan Set
A large set of pots and pans is a staple in the house essentials list. I always recommend buying in a set to save some money!
20. Knife Set
A reliable knife set is needed for every home! I try to invest in a better brand to save me from needing to buy a new set in the near future. Do not skip this item on your household essentials list!
21. Coffee Machine
Can anyone get through the day without a good coffee? We love our Nespresso because it can make coffee, espresso, & gran lungos. It's the best upgrade we made in our new home.
22. Tupperware
A set of Tupperware is the best for all the leftovers and food storage in general. I tend to buy a set to save some money. You don't need to get the fanciest brand to get the job done!
