Temporary Guest Bed Options:
We created this temporary guest bed solution years ago & have never turned back to our air mattress! The Murphy bed was much too expensive for us. We needed to be able to convert our office into a temporary guest room in an easy way that also felt intentional for our guests.
This foldable bed is SO comfortable and stores easily under our bed when it's not in use! It takes less than 5 minutes to set up with no tools required. The queen size comfortably fits two adults (& they won't wake up in a half-deflated air mattress taco in the morning!).
If you're looking for easy & quick, the air mattress is a staple for a reason. Between the air mattress and folding bed, it's a no-brainer for me that the folding bed is far better. Saying that, the air mattress still has its affordability going for it. I will say that our air mattresses have broken so easily that the folding bed paid for itself pretty quickly. We still keep a couple air mattresses around for "extras", but haven't pulled them out since buying our folding bed 3 years ago.
Out of all the air mattresses, this is our favorite. It has a nice base for a little extra support & is easy to set up.
The Murphy bed does have a "cool factor" going for it! The Murphy bed was actually our top contender for a long time when searching for temporary guest room ideas. The biggest thing that held me back from buying one was the insane price tag that comes along with it. The folding bed acts as a Murphy bed, but doesn't take up a ton of your room's square footage in the process. The Murphy bed does have the easiest set up and storage option, so if that's your top priority it's definitely a great contender.
