This post is about the 5 most important steps to a good shower deep cleaning.

#1: Clean above where your arms can reach!
I do a little spray & wipe most times after I shower. It helps maintain the space. However, I rarely bust out our stool and really get up high on the shower walls. Pretty gross when you think about all the moisture and products that rise with the steam up there.
I now cannot live without our multi-cleaning tool. Ours is older, but this is an almost identical one that I’m planning to buy when this one dies. It makes cleaning the whole shower SO much faster, and I use it for everything.
P.S. don’t forget to clean above the ledge if you have a tub insert style shower. There is probably loads of dust and grime up there.
#2: Deep clean your glass & casing.
It’s a love/hate relationship with shower doors. They’re gorgeous, but they showcase how dirty your shower is tenfold. Plus once that grime is caked on the glass it’s nearly impossible to get it off.
I maintain ours with this spray from target and a quick squeegee after every shower. It’s necessary to deep clean it to really cut through the buildup though. I use the multi-purpose tool again for this. Don’t forget the casing! I pull ours off and scrub it with baking soda & vinegar.
#3: Don’t skip the places you can’t see.
Easy to do, but so so nasty. The drain is a deep dark abyss that I prefer to avoid most of the time. This week though, I took the cover off and had a look down. The way that I almost vomited…
To keep the space maintained, a little baking soda & vinegar should do the trick. It helps with build ups and any odd smells that could surface their way up. Also make sure you’re checking any weird nooks that your shower might have. Basically, really dig around for unmentionable areas during this step.

#4: Every shower deep cleaning needs a shower head soak.
Think about it… the water you use to clean yourself is coming out of a dirty faucet. Gross, right? I do a 1:1 ratio of vinegar and warm water. Throw it in a bag and let it soak for about 30ish minutes. Make sure you keep an eye on it, to ensure the finish of your fixture isn’t affected at all.
#5: Clean your cleaning tools!
Another “duh”. Let’s be real though, how often do you actually do this? We keep a squeegee in our shower & I can’t remember the last time I cleaned it. Sorta makes the cleaning feel a bit counterproductive, don’t you think?
I also use this time to do a wipe down of any high touch point areas. Door handles, faucets, shampoo bottle, etc.
Final Thoughts On Shower Deep Cleaning…
Maintenance is key for a deep clean to be quick and easy. Don’t let yourself be overwhelmed by a deep clean. You could even try breaking it down by doing one section each night during the week. Some cleaning progress is better than none!
